Resumo: Phlebopus is a genus of boletoid fungi that produces conspicous basidiomes with large dimensions. The genus is represented in Brazil by six species distributed in eight States, with P. beniensis being here newly reported from the State of São Paulo, Southeastern Brazil. Therefore, the aim of this study is to report the occurrence of this species in São Paulo State based on specimens from Southwestern region of the State, as well as to present ethnomycological notes, including the first report of the species edibility.
