Resumo: This essay consists of an evaluation of scientific journalism in Brazil, based on the author's previous analyzes and observation. On the one hand, there is greater interest from professionals in postgraduate courses and Fellowships, which unveil the intricacies of the production of scientific knowledge, and the long career of journalists who can serve as inspiration. On the other hand, there is a hesitation in seeking other approaches, deeper or more suited to the interests of readers, and a triumphalist view of the progress of scientific discoveries, because it is supported by inconsistent assumptions about the national system of science and technology. Greater interaction with readers and with researchers themselves could contribute to the improvement of reporting in this area.

Por un lado, existe un mayor interés de los profesionales por los posgrados y Fellowships, que develan los entresijos de la producción de conocimiento científico, y la larga trayectoria de periodistas que pueden servir de inspiración. Por otro lado, existe una vacilación en buscar otros enfoques, más profundos o más adecuados a los intereses de los lectores, y una visión triunfalista del avance de los descubrimientos científicos, porque se sustenta en supuestos inconsistentes sobre el sistema nacional de ciencia y tecnología. Una mayor interacción con los lectores y con los propios investigadores podría contribuir a mejorar la información en esta área.Este ensaio consiste em uma avaliação do jornalismo científico no Brasil, fundamentada em análises prévias e na observação do autor. Por um lado, há maior interesse dos profissionais da área por cursos de pós-graduação e Fellowships, que descortinam os meandros da produção do conhecimento científico, e a longa carreira de jornalistas que podem servir de inspiração. Por outro lado, nota-se uma hesitação em buscar outras abordagens, mais profundas ou mais adequadas aos interesses dos leitores, e uma visão triunfalista sobre o andamento das descobertas científica, porque apoiada em pressupostos inconsistentes sobre o sistema nacional de ciência e tecnologia.
