Resumo: A treatment of natural zeolite activated with ferric chloride is proposed as it is considered an efficient adsorbent for the removal of metals in surface water that supplies the population of San Mateo de Huanchor, using natural zeolites from the Yura Viejo annex belonging to the department of Arequipa. The results of the experimental design show an efficiency greater than 90%. To determine the adsorption capacity, tests were carried out with different factors such as particle size (Mesh # 20 and # 40), contact time (5, 15, 30, 180, 360 and 480 min), adsorbent mass ( 2, 5 and 10 g) and concentration of the contaminated solution (0.1, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 100 mg / L). The result of the adsorption capacity obtained in the batch tests was 1,668 mg of Arsenic per gram of Zeolite.
