The paper’s main purpose is to bring in a new and updated ideological classification of Brazilian political parties. Data elicited from political scientists through a survey in 2018 asked them to position each party on the left-right continuum and, additionally, regarding their major objective, to pursue votes, government positions or policy issues. Furthermore, we show a prevalence of patronage and clientelistic parties who rank in first the votes-positions dyad rather policy. SciELO PreprintsSciELO PreprintsSciELO Preprints2021-06-30info:eu-repo/semantics/preprintinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scielo/preprint/view/255210.1590/SciELOPreprints.2552porhttps://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scielo/article/view/2552/4439Copyright (c) 2021 Bruno Bolognesi, Ednaldo Ribeiro, Adriano Codatohttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessBolognesi, BrunoRibeiro, EdnaldoCodato, Adrianoreponame:SciELO Preprintsinstname:SciELOinstacron:SCI2021-06-28T13:40:35Zoai:ops.preprints.scielo.org:preprint/2552Servidor de preprintshttps://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scieloONGhttps://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scielo/oaiscielo.submission@scielo.orgopendoar:2021-06-28T13:40:35SciELO Preprints - SciELOfalse
