GADAMER’S HERMENEUTICS AS A METHOD OF DATA ANALYSIS IN QUALITATIVE RESEARCH

Resumo: | The objective here is to shed light on the hermeneutic-phenomenological method of operating in qualitative research, and through this, proceed to understand the speeches and experiences of the people heard in the research process. Specifically, the reflections developed here will be related to the Philosophical Hermeneutics of Hans-Georg Gadamer. In this sense, the main concern of the hermeneutic analysis rests on making meanings that can be explained, through the sharing of a speech about a human experience, resonate with the ears of the listeners and readers. And in this task, there is the intention to reveal what lies '' on '', '' between '' and by '' behind '' those words that were said, in order to try to translate, or at least approach, the truth of the world, the context, and the phenomenon through the lens of the person interviewed. Hermeneutics can be used, also as a data analysis tool within qualitative research, so here is presented the analysis strategy ‘’ elaboration of stories ’’. Such a method requires the researcher to work ‘’ together ’with the data obtained, and not‘ ’with '' them. This means 'inhabiting' the transcribed text and confronting it, until a vivid, contextualized, and revealing description about the nuances of the surveyed phenomenon can be extracted from it. |

Específicamente, las reflexiones desarrolladas aquí estarán relacionadas con la hermenéutica filosófica de Hans-Georg Gadamer. En este sentido, la principal preocupación del análisis hermenéutico reside en hacer que los significados que pueden explicarse, al compartir un discurso sobre una experiencia humana, resuenen en los oídos de los oyentes y lectores. Y en esta tarea, existe la intención de revelar lo que yace '' sobre '', '' entre '' y '' detrás '' de las palabras que se dijeron, para tratar de traducir, o al menos abordar, la verdad del mundo, el contexto y el fenómeno a través de la lente de la persona entrevistada. La hermenéutica se puede utilizar, también como una herramienta de análisis de datos dentro de la investigación cualitativa, por lo que aquí se presenta la estrategia de análisis "elaboración de historias". Tal método requiere que el investigador trabaje '' junto '' con los datos obtenidos, y no '' con '' ellos. Esto significa 'habitar' el texto transcrito y confrontarlo, hasta que se pueda extraer de él una descripción vívida, contextualizada y reveladora sobre los matices del fenómeno encuestado. Objetiva-se aqui lançar luz ao método hermenêutico-fenomenológico de se operar em pesquisa qualitativa, e através desse, proceder à compreensão das falas e vivências das pessoas ouvidas no processo de pesquisa. Especificamente, as reflexões aqui desenvolvidas estarão relacionadas à Hermenêutica Filosófica de Hans-Georg Gadamer. Nesse sentido, a principal preocupação da análise hermenêutica repousa sobre fazer emergir, a partir do compartilhamento de uma fala sobre uma experiência humana, significados que possam ser explicados e, assim, ressoar aos ouvidos dos ouvintes e leitores. E nessa tarefa, há o intuito de revelar o que repousa ‘’sobre’', ‘’entre'' e por ‘’detrás’' daquelas palavras que foram ditas, de modo a tentar traduzir, ou ao menos se aproximar, da verdade de mundo, do contexto, e do fenômeno pelas lentes da pessoa entrevistada. A Hermenêutica pode ser utilizada, inclusive como ferramenta de análise de dados dentro da pesquisa qualitativa, então apresenta-se aqui a estratégia de análise ‘’elaboração de histórias’’. Tal método exige que o pesquisador trabalhe ‘’junto'' aos dados obtidos, e não ‘’com'' eles. Isso significa ‘’habitar'' o texto transcrito e confrontá- lo, até que dele se possa extrair uma descrição vívida, contextualizada, e reveladora sobre as nuances do fenômeno inquirido.
