Resumo: The present work aims to analyze the profile of students that entering in the Federal Institute of Brasília (IFB) in the 2018-2022 five-years period, based on the assumption that access to education has to be based on democracy, covering all parts of the population, including the most vulnerable from a social, cultural and economic point of view. The objective was made to verify how this profile is traced according to the means of selection process adopted in the institution. The analysis of data on freshmen, graduates and the form of admission is the basis of analysis of this work to understand why a certain section of the population is covered and is more successful in terms of completing their studies at the institution than of other institutions that make up the same.

El objetivo fue verificar cómo se traza este perfil según los medios de selección adoptados en la institución. El análisis de datos sobre los estudiantes de primer año, graduados y la forma de admisión es la base de análisis de este trabajo para comprender por qué cierto sector de la población está cubierto y tiene más éxito en términos de completar sus estudios en la institución que en otras instituciones que forman parte del mismo.O presente trabalho analisou o perfil racial dos discentes do ensino médio integrado no Instituto Federal de Brasília (IFB) no quinquênio 2018-2022, partindo do pressuposto de que o acesso à educação tem que ser baseado na democracia, abrangendo todas as parcelas da população, inclusive as mais vulneráveis sob o ponto de vista social, cultural e econômico. Intentou-se verificar de que forma esse perfil é traçado de acordo com os meios de processo seletivo adotados na instituição.
