Perception of nutritionists about their work in the expanded family health center and primary care during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic

Resumo: This study aimed to verify the perception of nutritionists from the Extended Center for Family Health and Primary Care (NASF-AB) about their professional performance during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Qualitative study carried out in Curitiba-PR. For data collection, a script with questions for characterization of the participants and a semi-structured interview script were used. For sample definition, the Theoretical Saturation method was used and for data analysis, the Collective Subject Discourse (CSD) one. Five nutritionists participated in the research, with 12 years of experience in NASF-AB. The interviews were conducted in June and July of 2021 and seven CSD categories were identified, six referring to professional performance during the COVID-19 pandemic. The nutritionist’s perception was that they needed to adapt their professioal activities to provide continuity of care in nutrition and to meet the demands resulting from the pandemic. Estudo qualitativo realizado em Curitiba-PR. Para a coleta de dados, foram utilizados um roteiro com perguntas para caracterização dos participantes e um roteiro de entrevista semiestruturada. Para definição da amostra, foi utilizada a técnica de Saturação Teórica e para análise dos dados, o método Discurso do Sujeito Coletivo (DSC). Participaram da pesquisa cinco nutricionistas, com tempo de atuação no NASF-AB de 12 anos. As entrevistas foram realizadas em junho e julho de 2021 e foram identificadas sete categorias de DSC, seis referentes à atuação profissional durante a pandemia da COVID-19. A percepção das nutricionistas foi de necessidade de adaptação das atividades profissionais para continuidade do cuidado em nutrição e para atender às demandas decorrentes da pandemia.
