Resumo: | Low water availability is a limiting factor for growth and development of summer crops in Rio Grande do Sul State. Brazil. Studies aiming to determine crop coefficients for water requirements are important for water supply recommendation. The objective o f this study was to determine the maximum evapotranspiration of sunflower (ETm) in relation to the reference evapotranspiration (ETo) and with solar radiation (Rs), to obtain the ratios ETm/ ETo (Kc , coefficient) and ETm/Rs (Kc 2 coefficient), at different crop stages. Field experiments were carried out at Centro de Pesquisa de Fruticultura, in Taquari, 29°48'S latitude, 51°49'W longitude and 76 m of altitude, during 1987/ 88, 1989/90, 1990/91 and 1991/92 crop seasons. The average ratio ETm/ETo for the whole crop cycle (from sowing to physiological maturity) was 0.77, while the average ratio ETm/Rs was 0.48 for the same period. The highest average values of crop coefficients occurred during flowering period with average values of 1.12 and 0.71, respectively, for Kc, and Kc 2 . |

A baixa disponibilidade hídrica é um dos fatores limitantes ao crescimento e desenvolvimento das culturas de verão no Rio Grande do Sul. Estudos visando a determinação de coeficientes de estimativa das necessidades hídricas são importantes para a recomendação de irrigação buscando minimizar o problema. Com este objetivo, relacionou-se a evapotranspiração máxima da cultura do girassol (ETm) com a evapotranspiração de referência (ETo) e com a radiação solar global (Rs), para obtenção das razões ETm/ETo (coeficiente Kc,) e ETm/Rs (coeficiente Kc 2), em diferentes subperíodos da cultura. O trabalho foi desenvolvido no Centro de Pesquisa de Fruticultura de Taquari/ RS (29°48' de latitude Sul, 51 °49' de longitude Oeste e 76 m de altitude), durante os anos agrícolas 1987/88. 1989/90, 1990/91 e 1991/92. A razão ETin/ETo média no ciclo total (da semeadura até a maturação fisiológica) foi de 0,77, enquanto que. para a razão ETm/Rs, o valor médio foi de 0,48. O subperíodo onde foram verificados os maiores valores para os dois coeficientes, foi do início ao final da floração, com valores médios de 1,12 e 0.71. respectivamente, para Kc, e Kc 2 .
