GROWTH ANALYSIS OF SUNFLOWER CULTIVARS IN RESPONSE TO FERTILIZATION LEVELS AND DATE OF SEEDING

Resumo: The growth of sunflower was evaluated during two growing seasons (1991/92 and 1992/93) in Taquari-RS. The study involved cultivars, fertilization leveis and date of seeding, under non limiting water conditions. Growth rate and net assimilation were strongly associated with air temperature. Leaf Area Index (LAI) showed a strong relationship with the Degree days. The low temparatures determined elongation of subperiods and on the duration of growth cycle. There was no response to photoperiod. The later cultivar showed a higher biological yield than the early cultivars evaluated. The fertilization leveis evaluated did not show any differences on the sunflower development and this was dueto the high fertility levei of the local soil.

The fertilization leveis evaluated did not show any differences on the sunflower development and this was dueto the high fertility levei of the local soil. O crescimento do girassol foi avaliado em dois anos agrícolas (1991/92 e 1992/93) na localidade de Taquari- RS, envolvendo cultivares, níveis de adubação e épocas de semeadura, em condições hídricas não limitantes. As taxas de crescimento da cultura e assimilatória liquida estiveram fortemente associadas com a temperatura do ar. O índice de área foliar (IAF) apresentou estreita relação com a soma térmica efetiva. As temperaturas baixas determinaram o alongamento dos subperiodos e do ciclo biológico da oleaginosa. A cultura não evidenciou resposta ao fotoperíodo. A cultivar tardia apresentou rendimento biológico mais elevado do que as cultivares precoces avaliadas. Os níveis de adubação avaliados não evidenciaram diferenças no comportamento do girassol, em função da alta fertilidade apresentada pelo solo utilizado.Departamento de Diagnóstico e Pesquisa Agropecuária.
