Resumo: The objective of this research was to evaluate adaptability and yield stability of common bean elite lines in Rio Grande do Sul State (RS), Brazil. Eight elite lines of different Brazilian breeding programs and three commercial cultivars used as check were evaluated in ten environments, in RS, during the biennium 2006-2007. The methods of Eberhart and Russel and Lin and Binns, modified by Carneiro, were used to obtain adaptability and stability estimates. Grain yield showed different response to location, year and planting time, due to the significant genotype by environ- ment interaction. TB 02-02 and UTF 2810433 elite lines showed simultaneous high grain yield, adaptability and yield stability for RS state, suggesting that they should be registered by the respective breeding program in the National Cultivar Registration Service.
