Using tobacco processing residues as acidity corrective in different soils

Resumo: In Brazil, there is a high annually production of tobacco processing residues that can cause serious envi- ronmental problems. Therefore, it is necessary some studies to allow the land disposal and agricultural use of tobacco processing residues. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of increase the pH of two agro-industrial tobacco residues in three different soils. It was tested five treatments with increasing doses of tobacco processing re- sidues in powder (dust) and stalks (stems) and a treatment with the addition of limestone, at the recommended dose to achieve pH 6.0 by the SMP method, in three different classes of soil texture. It was determined the pH values in water (1:1) and the potential acidity estimated by the SMP method at 3, 7, 14, 21, 35, 49, 63 and 77 days of incubation of soils, and also the neutralization value of tobacco processing residues in powder and stalks. Tobacco processing residues presented potential to increase the pH in the soils analyzed. The neutralization depended on the dose added and soil buffer acidity. Results exhibited that the residues can be used to neutralize the soil pH, however, it is necessary experiments to calibration in this area of study.

Por isso, são necessários estudos para viabilizar o descarte dos resíduos orgânicos das folhas de tabaco em solos agrícolas. Assim, o objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito corretivo de dois tipos de resíduos agroindustriais fumageiros sob o pH em três diferentes solos. Foram testadas cinco doses crescentes de resíduos da agroindústria fumageira em pó (RAF P) e em talos (RAF T) e um tratamento com adição de calcário, na dose recomendada para atingir pH 6,0 pelo método SMP, em três solos com diferentes classes texturais. Foram reali- zadas determinações do valor do pH em água e da acidez potencial aos 3, 7, 14, 21, 35, 49, 63 e 77 dias após início da incubação dos solos, e também do valor de neutralização dos resíduos testados. Os resíduos da agroindústria fu- mageira apresentaram elevação do pH nos solos, variando o valor conforme a dose adicionada e com o poder tampão da acidez dos solos estudados. Os resultados mostraram que esses resíduos podem ser utilizados para corrigir o pH dos solos, contudo, há a necessidade de experimentos de calibração nessa área.Departamento de Diagnóstico e Pesquisa Agropecuária.
