Resumo: The experiment was conducted to evaluate natural and artificial feeding for piavuçu larvae. Different formulations with raw chicken Tiver and molasse yeast were tested, but soybean meal was used as a partial substitute for molasse yeast at the proportions of 0 % for Treatment 1 (TI), 25 % for T2, and 50% for T3. Also, a fourth treatment (T4) was tested, using T l plus natural food (Artemia fr-anciscana nauplii). The four treatments and four repetitions were arranged in a completely randomized design. According to the obtained data, we concluded that artificial feeding introduced better results, and the use of soybean meal up to the levei of 50 % did jeopardize the larvae growth.

Neste trabalho, objetivou-se avaliar o efeito da substituição de levedura de cana por farelo de soja e a influência do uso de alimento vivo na criação de larvas de piavuçu. Foram testadas diferentes formulações preparadas com fígado de frango e levedura de cana, sendo esta substituída parcialmente por farelo de soja na proporção de O (TI), 25 (T2) e 50 % (T3), e testando-se, no tratamento T4, a mesma ração do T1 com a adição de alimento vivo (náuplius de Artemia franciscana), utilizando-se um delineamento inteiramente casualizado com 4 tratamentos e 4 repetições, sendo feitas duas comparações: TI x T4 e TI x T2 x T3. De acordo com os dados obtidos, concluiu-se que a alimentação artificial sem o uso de alimento natural promoveu uma maior sobrevivência, e que a substituição da levedura de cana por farelo de soja até o nível de 50 % não prejudicou o crescimento das larvas.
