Resumo: Objective: To analyze the scientific evidence in the literature about the risk factors that characterize difficult peripheral venous access in cancer patients. Method: Integrative review in the databases: SCOPUS, MEDLINE, EMBASE and LILACS. Complete studies with the central theme were included and articles related to pediatrics, central venous catheter and ultrasound were excluded. Results: 13 studies were selected. There was a predominance of Cohort Studies (53.8%), evidence 2B; Transversal (15.4%), 2B; Systematic Reviews of Cohort Studies (15.4%), 2A; Randomized controlled (7.7%), 1B; Case-control (7.7%), 3B. Found 44 factors related to the difficulty of peripheral venipuncture. Non-palpability, non-visibility and previous history of difficult venous access were the most pointed out and with greater evidence. Conclusion: There are few studies on this topic in oncology, when the nurse's assessment needs to be precise and systematic, especially in difficult venous access. Expansion of research can better guide the nurse's decision in choosing the most appropriate venous access.
