SKIN LESIONS IN NEWBORN INFANTS DURING HOSPITALIZATION IN THE NEONATAL UNIT

Resumo: | Objective: to analyze the types of skin lesions that occur in newborns admitted to a neonatal intensive care unit due to medical and non-medical devices. Method: Quantitative descriptive study, approved in the opinion nº. 4.145.564. Results: The data collected at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit showed that in 2018 the prevalence of lesions was 41.1%, with males being the most affected. Peripheral device injuries and nasal septum injury due to the use of nasal CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) were the most frequent. Conclusion: the main injuries were dermatitis due to exposure to body fluids and pressure injuries, while injuries due to medical devices were peripheral devices, nasal CPAP and adhesives. |

Método: Estudio descriptivo cuantitativo, aprobado en el Dictamen n. 4.145.564. Resultados: Los datos recolectados en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales mostraron que en el 2018 la prevalencia de lesiones fue de 41,1%, siendo el sexo masculino el más afectado. Las lesiones de dispositivos periféricos y del tabique nasal por el uso de CPAP nasal (Presión Positiva Continua en las Vías Aéreas) fueron las más frecuentes. Conclusión: las principales lesiones fueron dermatitis por exposición a fluidos corporales y lesiones por presión, mientras que las lesiones por dispositivos médicos fueron dispositivos periféricos, CPAP nasal y adhesivos.Objetivo: analisar os tipos de lesões de pele ocorridos em recém-nascidos internados em uma unidade de terapia intensiva neonatal por dispositivos médicos e não médicos. Método: Estudo descritivo quantitativo, aprovado no Parecer nº. 4.145.564. Resultados: Os dados coletados na Unidade de Terapia Intensiva Neonatal mostraram que no ano de 2018 a prevalência das lesões foi de 41,1%, sendo o sexo masculino o mais acometido. As lesões por dispositivo periférico e lesão do septo nasal por uso do CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) nasal foram as mais frequentes.
