Resumo: Objective: Summarize evidence related to sociodemographic and epidemiological characteristics and clinical manifestations of COVID-19 in nursing professionals worldwide. Method: Integrative review carried out between May and November 2021, on PubMed®, SciELO, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, Lilacs and BDENF platforms and databases. The question was: "What are the findings available in the literature about the sociodemographic and epidemiological characteristics and clinical manifestations of COVID-19 in nursing professionals around the world?" Results: 10 articles were included, eight carried out in Brazil, one in Spain and one worldwide. There was a prevalence among technicians, with a preponderance of females and a higher risk of illness for professionals between 31 and 40 years of age and of death for those aged over 41 years. The highest fatality rates among men. Conclusions: These findings reinforce the need for more attention to the health of these professionals and evaluation of the strategies adopted to face the disease, preserving the life of those who exercise the art of caring and avoiding the strangulation of health services.
