Resumo: Objective: to reflect on the health care provided by nursing professionals to newborns under phototherapy, in the light of Edgar Morin's Complexity Theory. Method: this is a reflective theoretical study based on the Complexity Theory of Edgar Morin, carried out in January and February 2022. Articles, books and documents were used that dealt with related themes and that provided the basis for the reflections instigated by guiding question. Results: the adoption of complex thinking in nursing care for newborns under phototherapy, motivates the search for an integrated care that considers the different elements involved, such as hospitalization of the newborn, interruption of skin-to-skin contact with the mother, susceptibility to to problems in breastfeeding and iatrogenic related to the procedure. Final considerations: From the understanding of complexity, it becomes possible to have a broad view of the individual needs of each newborn and family, making them protagonists of rights. Nursing stands out as it can enable the training of reflective professionals capable of working in cooperation with other team members, in the construction of new knowledge, possibilities and practices in order to guarantee comprehensive care for the newborn under phototherapy.

Método: se trata de un estudio teórico reflexivo basado en la Teoría de la Complejidad de Edgar Morin, realizado en enero y febrero de 2022. Se utilizaron artículos, libros y documentos que trataron temas afines y que sirvieron de base para las reflexiones suscitadas por la pregunta orientadora. Resultados: la adopción del pensamiento complejo en el cuidado de enfermería al recién nacido bajo fototerapia, motiva la búsqueda de un cuidado integrado que considere los diferentes elementos involucrados, como la hospitalización del recién nacido, la interrupción del contacto piel a piel con la madre, la susceptibilidad a a problemas en la lactancia ya la iatrogenia relacionada con el procedimiento. Consideraciones finales: A partir de la comprensión de la complejidad, se hace posible tener una visión amplia de las necesidades individuales de cada recién nacido y familia, haciéndolos protagonistas de derechos. La enfermería se destaca porque puede posibilitar la formación de profesionales reflexivos capaces de trabajar en cooperación con otros miembros del equipo, en la construcción de nuevos conocimientos, posibilidades y prácticas para garantizar la atención integral al recién nacido en fototerapia.Objetivo: refletir sobre o cuidado em saúde realizado por profissionais de enfermagem aos recém-nascidos sob fototerapia, à luz da Teoria da Complexidade de Edgar Morin. Método: trata-se de um estudo teórico reflexivo fundamentado na Teoria da Complexidade de Edgar Morin, realizado no mês de janeiro e fevereiro de 2022. Foram utilizados artigos, livros e documentos que trataram das temáticas relacionadas e que deram fundamento para as reflexões instigadas pela questão norteadora. Resultados: a adoção do pensamento complexo no cuidado em enfermagem ao recém-nascido sob fototerapia, motiva a busca por uma assistência integrada que considere os diferentes elementos envolvidos como a hospitalização do neonato, a interrupção do contato pele a pele com a mãe, a suscetibilidade a problemas na amamentação e iatrogenias relacionadas ao procedimento. Considerações finais: A partir da compreensão da complexidade, torna-se possível ter uma visão ampla das necessidades individuais de cada neonato e família, tornando-os sujeitos protagonistas de direitos.
