Resumo: | This is a reflective study carried out with the analysis of Brazilian and Canadian documents, with the aim of reflecting on the main points of congruence and divergence between the role of Brazilian and Canadian nurses in primary health care. The main points of convergence between the practices of Brazilian and Canadian nurses were highlighted: universal health care, immunization as a prevention strategy, the focus of primary care on prevention and health promotion, and the influence of the ingrained biomedical model the practice. The divergences identified were: the autonomy of the nurse in the assistance, the existence of community health agents, the academic education of nursing and teamwork. |

Foram evidenciados os principais pontos de convergência entre as práticas do enfermeiro brasileiro e do canadense: a assistência universal à saúde, a imunização como estratégia de prevenção, o foco da atenção primária na prevenção e na promoção de saúde, e a influência do modelo biomédico arraigado à prática.
