EDUCATIONAL INTERVENTION ON PRESSURE INJURY INDICATORS AND REFLECTIONS IN CLINICAL PRACTICE

Resumo: ABSTRACT Objective: To identify whether the training of nurses can interfere with the prevalence rates of pressure injuries in patients admitted to an Intensive Care Unit. Methods: This is a quasi-experimental, quantitative study, with a design before and after the application of the educational intervention, which evaluated the influence of training on nurses working in an intensive care unit in terms of PI rates. Results: The total study sample consisted of 39 patients, of which 16 were evaluated in the first data collection, with a prevalence of 56.3% of PI and 23 were evaluated in the second collection, of which 60.9% had injuries. Most of these PIs were evaluated as stage 2, with the calcaneus being the most affected segment. Conclusion: The results showed that training carried out only with nurses from such units did not significantly influence the reduction in the prevalence of PI, which may be related to the time interval between training and assessment. However, the results showed a significant increase in the use of preventive measures, a fact that could possibly result in a reduction of these indicators in a second moment. Métodos: Se trata de un estudio cuasi-experimental, cuantitativo, con un diseño antes y después de la aplicación de la intervención educativa, que evaluó la influencia de la formación de los enfermeros que actúan en una unidad de cuidados intensivos en cuanto a las tasas de IP. Resultados: La muestra total del estudio estuvo constituida por 39 pacientes, de los cuales 16 fueron evaluados en la primera toma de datos, con una prevalencia de 56,3% de IP y 23 fueron evaluados en la segunda toma, de los cuales el 60,9% presentaron lesiones. La mayoría de estas IP se evaluaron como estadio 2, siendo el calcáneo el segmento más afectado. Conclusión: Los resultados mostraron que la capacitación realizada solo con enfermeros de dichas unidades no influyó significativamente en la reducción de la prevalencia de IP, lo que puede estar relacionado con el intervalo de tiempo entre la capacitación y la evaluación. Sin embargo, los resultados mostraron un aumento significativo en el uso de medidas preventivas, hecho que posiblemente podría resultar en una reducción de estos indicadores en un segundo momento. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo quase experimental, de caráter quantitativo, com delineamento antes e depois da aplicação da intervenção educativa, a qual avaliou a influência da capacitação para enfermeiros atuantes em uma unidade de terapia intensiva sobre os índices de LPP. Resultados: A amostra total do estudo foi composta por 39 pacientes, dos quais 16 foram avaliados na primeira coleta de dados, com prevalência de 56,3% de LPP e 23 foram avaliados na segunda coleta, dos quais 60,9% apresentaram lesões. A maioria dessas LPP foram avaliadas como estágio 2, sendo o calcâneo, o segmento mais acometido. Conclusão: Os resultados demonstraram que a capacitação realizada somente com os enfermeiros de tais unidades não influenciou significativamente na redução da prevalência de LPP, podendo estar relacionada ao intervalo temporal entre a capacitação e a avaliação. Porém, os resultados demonstraram um aumento significativo na utilização de medidas preventivas, fato que, que possivelmente poderá resultar em uma redução destes indicadores em um segundo momento.
