KANGAROO METHOD AND NURSING STAFF: EXPERIENCES AND APPLICABILITY IN NEONATAL UTI

Resumo: Objective: To know the experience of the nursing staff in the practice of the kangaroo method in the neonatal ICU and what factors interfere with its applicability in this environment. Method: A descriptive, exploratory, cross-sectional study with a qualitative approach. Fifteen professionals from the nursing team participated in the research, including nurses and nursing technicians who develop their activities with newborns in the neonatal ICU. Results: The results showed that the Kangaroo Method is an important strategy for newborn care, and four categories were defined from the interviews. Final considerations: The Kangaroo Method is a strategy used by health professionals in providing integral, human and individualized care, being beneficial both for the newborn, his family and team, promoting the strengthening of bonds.

Método: Estudio exploratorio descriptivo transversal con abordaje cualitativo. Participaron en la investigación cinco profesionales del equipo de enfermería, entre enfermeros y técnicos de enfermería, que describen sus actividades con los recién nacidos ingresados en la UTI neonatal. Resultados: Los resultados mostraron que el Método Canguro es una importante estrategia de cuidado de los recién nacidos, definiéndose cuatro categorías a partir de las entrevistas. Consideraciones finales: El Método Canguro es una estrategia utilizada por los profesionales de la salud en la prestación de atención integral, humana e individualizada, siendo beneficioso tanto para el recién nacido, su familia y el equipo, promoviendo el fortalecimiento de los vínculos.Objetivo: Conhecer a vivência da equipe de enfermagem na prática do método canguru na UTI neonatal e quais os fatores que interferem na sua aplicabilidade nesse ambiente. Método: Estudo descritivo exploratório, transversal com abordagem qualitativa. Participaram da pesquisa quinze profissionais da equipe de enfermagem, entre enfermeiros e técnicos de enfermagem, que desenvolvem suas atividades com os recém-nascidos internados na UTI neonatal. Resultados: Os resultados mostraram que o Método Canguru é uma importante estratégia de cuidado dos recém-nascidos, sendo definida quatro categorias a partir das entrevistas.
