Resumo: Attending labor, delivery, birth and the first care in the delivery room to the newborn since the beginning of human existence has always been a very peculiar event, full of meanings and sensations that only describes those who experience this moment. However, this event has undergone and has undergone considerable changes since December 2019, with the appearance of a new coronavirus causing flu syndrome and serious pulmonary complications, COVID-19. The origin, still uncertain, however, is probably related to a mutation of the coronavirus that infects bats, breaking the genetic barrier to be able to adapt to a new species
