Resumo: | Rabies is an acute viral encephalitis, transmitted by mammals with close to 100% lethality, causing serious economic and public health problems, especially in developing and underdeveloped countries. Disease caused by viruses of the genus Lyssavirus, belonging to the Rhabdoviridae family, which spreads through the central nervous system and is found in spare concentrations in the salivary glands of its reservoir. The objective of this study was to evaluate the knowledge of the user population of the Basic Health Units in relation to rabies in the city of Birigui, state of São Paulo. For this purpose, a questionnaire with closed questions was used to identify and categorize the population's knowledge and attitudes towards rabies. Four hundred randomly selected patients of both sexes were interviewed. Our results revealed that 74.25% (297/400) of respondents were female, with 44% (176/400) allocated in the age group 31-50 years, 45.25% (181/400) had 97.25% (389/400) had heard of rabies, 67% (268/400) knew which transmitters of the disease and 85.05% (256/400) adopted immunoprophylactic regimen against rabies. Anger in your animals. From the above we conclude that the population showed high knowledge about rabies, since most interviewees knew what were the causative factors of the disease such as transmission, lethality, therapy and prevention measures, and have heard about zoonosis. mostly by digital means or exchanges of information between individuals. |

In Derme; Vol. 90 No. 28 (2019): Out.
