Resumo: Objective: To analyze the frequency and characteristics related to the possible mental suffering of women in social isolation during the covid-19 pandemic. Methodology: Analytical, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, carried out with 138 women in different regions of the state of Paraíba. Data were collected through virtual tests between January and February 2021, using the Virtual Snowball methodological technique. The analysis was subsidized with the support of descriptive and analytical statistics through the SPSS software version 20.0. Results: it was observed among the study participants that 51.4% (71) of the women had a compatible score for possible mental distress. When related to the sociodemographic, accelerated, life habits and coexistence variables in social isolation, it was evidenced that only the variable "is in confinement with someone else" showed a statistically relationship with possible mental suffering among the participants. Conclusions: The Covid-19 pandemic and, consequently, the social isolation it provokes, causes mental suffering among women, especially with regard to living in confinement with another person. Therefore, it is recommended to strengthen comprehensive care for women's health, with emotional actions for mental health during the pandemic and post-pandemic period. Also, it is necessary to reflect on aspects of the accountability imposed by society on women, as well as the overload and inequality in the division of tasks in the domestic and work environments.

In Derme; Vol. 97 No. 4 (2023): Out.
