Resumo: ABSTRACT To identify the autonomy of persons in treatment with chemotherapeutic antineoplastic drugs autoadministrados orally as health care. descriptive study with a qualitative approach, based on Sociological Phenomenology of Alfred Schutz. participated in this study seven people met in the oncology outpatient clinic of a federal institution in Rio de Janeiro. Data collection occurred in August 2016 period to January 2017, and used the phenomenological semi-structured interview, guided by a script. The analysis was based on the concepts of sociological phenomenology of Alfred Schutz. There is loss of autonomy of the people of this group to walk through life and the growing dependence of these people and this is a chance where the nursing staff for the development of autonomy. Estudo descritivo, com abordagem qualitativa, apoiado na Fenomenologia Sociológica de Alfred Schutz. Participaram do estudo sete pessoas atendidas no ambulatório de oncologia de uma instituição federal do Rio de Janeiro. A coleta de dados ocorreu no período de agosto de 2016 a janeiro de 2017, e utilizou a entrevista fenomenológica semiestruturada, norteada por um roteiro. A análise foi baseada nos conceitos da fenomenologia sociológica de Alfred Schutz. Há perda da autonomia das pessoas deste grupo ao caminhar pela vida e a crescente dependência dessas pessoas sendo esta uma oportunidade de atuação da equipe de Enfermagem para o desenvolvimento da autonomia.
