THE REORGANIZATION OF OBSTETRIC CARE DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Objective: to understand the perception of Obstetric Nursing Residency preceptors in relation to the reorganization of obstetric care in maternity hospitals as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: descriptive, exploratory study with a qualitative approach with 15 preceptors of the Obstetric Nursing Residency of the Institute of Health Sciences of the Federal University of Pará, carried out using a semi-structured interview as the collection instrument, and after transcription, the content analysis technique was also used. The Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research was used to conduct the study process. Results: It was observed that the closure of units, reduction of beds, use of preventive measures, such as hand washing and personal protective equipment and creation of care flows. Also the reduction of contact with the pregnant woman and implementation of guidelines for the implementation of non-pharmacological technologies by the pregnant woman, to inhibit the risks of contamination. Conclusion: Therefore, there was a need during the pandemic to reorganize obstetric care services to ensure better care and safety for health professionals and pregnant women.
