What nurses do not know about the pressure ulcer prevention?

The pressure ulcer (PU) is located on the skin and /or underlying tissue, usually bony prominence locationsresulting pressure or pressure combined with shearing and can be caused by external and internal factors. Thisstudy aims to analyze the evidence of the scientific literature on recommendations related of nurses’ unknownpressure damage prevention. This is an integrative literature review. We analyzed 06 articles collected inthe databases LILACS, CINAHL, MEDLINE and SciELO electronic library, between June and August 2015, theywere identified by reading the titles and abstracts, and data extraction was performed by two reviewers usingform adapted from the literature. Data analysis was categorized and presented in tables. The most unknownrecommendations belonged categories: Risk factors and risk assessment, Preventive skin care and Repositioningand early mobilization. It concludes that there are gaps in the nurses’ knowledge about the recommendations forPU prevention with the need to create strategic performances, conduct educational planning to enable nurses toaddress the problem of the high incidence and prevalence of PU, contributing to improving the care offered thisclientele.Keywords: Nursing; Pressure Ulcer; Knowledge.
