Resumo: Objectives: To evaluate the use of the therapeutic toy as a humanization strategy in the vaccine room. Methods: It is an analytical and observational, quasi-experimental, quantitative approach, performed with 24 children. Data were obtained on the observation of the child during the vaccination and semi-structured interview. Results: Females predominated (79.2%), between the ages of 4 and 6 years, with a majority of browns of 19 (79.1%), 7 (29.2%) with a high school education, and 13 (54.2%) families belong to economic class C. In the comparison between the experimental and control groups observed by the researcher, 8 (66.7%) children in the experimental group presented satisfactory expressions with reduction of pain through the face scale (p = 0.009). However, in the control group 11 (91.7%) children showed unsatisfactory expressions on the face scale (p <0.05). Conclusions: The therapeutic toy was more successful in the group that was previously prepared for vaccination, showing greater acceptance of the procedure and spontaneous cooperation with the health professional, and allowing the child to reduce facial expressions of pain.

SOBENFeE2019-09-26info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://revistaenfermagematual.com/index.php/revista/article/view/47910.31011/reaid-2019-v.89-n.27-art.479Journal Enfermagem Atual In Derme; Vol. 89 No. 27 (2019): EDIÇÃO Jul.
