Resumo: The present study aimed to understand the perception of patients with Chronic Kidney Disease about preoperative care in the making of the Arteriovenous Fistula. This is a descriptive exploratory study with a qualitative approach, applying Callista Roy's Theory of Adaptation, which understands the individual as an adaptive and holistic system. The research was conducted in a Hemodialysis Clinic located in Maracanaú-CE. The study included twelve patients with Chronic Kidney Disease on hemodialysis who had Arteriovenous Fistula data collection was performed from September to November 2018, using a semi-structured interview script, in recording form. Following the content analysis, it was created with the data the apprehension of three thematic categories: “Orientation deficit before surgery”; “Fear” and “Disinformation”. We conclude that the perception of patients with Chronic Kidney Disease patients regarding preoperative care for Arteriovenous Fistula confection has permeated the feeling of fear, anxiety, related to lack of information, showing that enlightening approaches regarding the disease are of paramount importance. It is essential to start the care before Arteriovenous Fistula until the access management, in order to prolong the operation of this access and avoid future complications.
