Resumo: Objective: to know the perception of the elderly about aging and loneliness. Methods: this is a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive research carried out with 12 non-institutionalized elderly people treated in consultations at an outpatient clinic of a public hospital in southern Brazil. For the production of data, a semi-structured interview was used, recorded between September and October 2021. The interviews were transcribed and analyzed using the thematic content analysis proposed by Minayo. Results: they showed that chronological aging is not experienced as a limiting factor, thus indicating a positive perspective in relation to aging itself. Loneliness is understood as the lack of company. And depression as a potentiator of loneliness. Final Considerations: important repercussions were found in which loneliness generates greater impacts than the perception of aging itself.

Métodos: se trata de una investigación cualitativa, exploratoria y descriptiva realizada con 12 ancianos no institucionalizados atendidos en consultas de un ambulatorio de un hospital público del sur de Brasil. Para la producción de datos se utilizó una entrevista semiestructurada, grabada entre septiembre y octubre de 2021. Las entrevistas fueron transcritas y analizadas utilizando el análisis de contenido temático propuesto por Minayo. Resultados: demostraron que el envejecimiento cronológico no es experimentado como un factor limitante, indicando así una perspectiva positiva en relación al envejecimiento mismo. La soledad se entiende como la falta de compañía. Y la depresión como potenciadora de la soledad. Consideraciones finales: se encontraron importantes repercusiones en que la soledad genera mayores impactos que la propia percepción del envejecimiento.Objetivo: conhecer a percepção dos idosos sobre o envelhecimento e a solidão. Métodos: trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, exploratória e descritiva realizada com 12 idosos não institucionalizados atendidos em consultas em um ambulatorio de um Hospital Público no sul do Brasil. Para a produção dos dados foi utilizada a entrevista semidirigida, gravada no período de setembro e outubro de 2021. As entrevistas foram transcritas e analisadas pela análise de conteúdo tematico proposto por Minayo. Resultados: evidenciaram que envelhecimento cronológico não é vivenciado como um fator limitante, indicando assim uma perspectiva positiva em relação ao próprio envelhecimento. A solidão é compreendia como a falta de companhia. E a depressão como potencializadora da solidão.
