Resumo: Objective: To analyze the factors related to BD notification. Methods: This is a retrospective study, carried out in a philanthropic hospital in the North Zone of the state of Ceará. Data collection took place through the medical records of patients who evolved to BD. The variables analyzed were: sociodemographic data of patients undergoing BD, family interview, reason for refusal and donated tissues. Data collection took place from May to June 2018. Results: 126 medical records were analyzed. There was a predominance of male patients (69.8%), single (80.2%) with an average age of 32 years. The main cause of EM was TBI (52%). It was noted that the family interview was carried out in 100% of the analyzed medical records, with parents being the predominant degree of kinship (56.3%). Family refusal was present in 60.4% of the medical records, highlighting the reasons: (63.8%) of family members want a full body. In all 35 (100%) donors, kidneys, liver and corneas were selected for transplants. Final considerations: There was a need to develop an educational process based on awareness campaigns, encouraging the population to discuss with their families the decision to donate an organ.
