Monografia (Letras) - Universidade Católica de Brasília, Brasília, 2012.https://repositorio.ucb.br:9443/jspui/handle/10869/3843LetrasAs relações do homem com o sobrenatural ou com o inexplicável aos olhos da razão encontrou espaço na literatura desde a Antiguidade, mas, devido ao grande número de obras que trouxeram essa temática ao longo do século XVIII, atribui-se a esse período o nascimento da literatura fantástica. Este trabalho faz um breve percurso pelas manifestações do fantástico europeu, hispanoamericano e brasileiro, pondo em confronto o posicionamento de relevantes teóricos do gênero. A literatura fantástica se manifestou de variadas formas ao longo dos séculos, mas sempre conservando um princípio de causalidade mágica, ou seja, totalmente arbitrário segundo a lógica científica. Uma vez liberto dos questionamentos promovidos pelo exacerbado racionalismo, ao qual foi submetido ao longo dos séculos XVIII e XIX, e influenciado pela mistura dos gêneros e pelas novas técnicas da narrativa, no século XX o chamado fantástico contemporâneo aparece sem a preocupação de estabelecer as fronteiras entre o real e o imaginário. Agora, absurdo e cotidiano se misturam, sem que isso desperte a necessidade de qualquer explicação racional. A narrativa fantástica se volta para o homem e seu cotidiano, e nela se podem encontrar tanto uma crítica velada à sociedade quanto questões de caráter existencial. É sob essa perspectiva que abordaremos o fantástico presente nos contos “O fantasma”, “O buraco” e “Tarde da noite”, da autoria do escritor Luiz Vilela.Human relationship with the supernatural or the inexplicable to eyes of reason has found its space in literature since ancient times, but due to the amount of works that focused on this theme in the 18th century, the birth of fantastic literature is attributed to this period. This paper made a brief journey through fantastic manifestations in Europe, Hispanic America and Brazil, confronting the position of relevant theorists of this literary genre. Although fantastic literature has manifested itself in many ways throughout time, it has always maintained a magic causality principle, in other words, totally arbitrary according to scientific logic. Once freed from the inquiries promoted from the exacerbated rationalism, it was submitted to along the 17th and 18th centuries, and influenced by the mixture of genre and new narrative techniques, in the 20th century, the so-called contemporary fantastic arises without the concern to establish a limit between the real and the imaginary. Now the absurd and the daily blend without the urge or need of any rational explanation. The fantastic narrative turns itself to men and their daily routine, inside which both a veiled critic to society and questions of existential matter can be found.
