Juntamente com o avanço na idade as doenças crônicas acompanham os idosos, porém, ultimamente vem-se aumentando também o número de casos de doenças sexualmente transmissíveis no mesmo e uso de medicamentos estimulantes sexuais. Objetivos: Investigar a produção cientifica acerca da sexualidade Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, realizada por meio de busca eletrônica no site da biblioteca virtual em saúde (BVS) (www.bireme.br) e Sistema Scielo (/www.scielo.org), tendo como base complementar periódicos da revista ciência e saúde coletiva – Abrasco) artigos a respeito dos tópicos que serão tratados nessa pesquisa. Resultados: Foram encontrados 21 artigos a respeito da sexualidade do idoso. Conclusão: A sexualidade do idoso é um assunto que deve ser levado em consideração ao comparar as políticas públicas e campanhas. Todavia ao se pensar no ato sexual pensa-se em possíveis doenças sexualmente transmissíveis, em que os idosos não estão imunes as mesmas.Currently, one of the most frequent issues in health care is about the health of the elderly, due to the age structure of the Brazil and the world that presents indices increasingly elderly populations. Along with the advancement in age chronic diseases accompany the elderly, however, ultimately comes up also increasing the number of cases of sexually transmitted diseases in the same and medication use sexual stimulants. Objectives: To investigate the scientific production about sexuality BVS - Virtual Health Library Methodology: This is an integrative literature review, conducted through electronic search on the site of the virtual health library (BVC) (www.bireme.br ) and system SciELO (/ www.scielo.org), based on periodic complementary magazine science and public health - Abrasco, having as the 21 (twenty one) articles about the topics that will be addressed in this research. Results: All the 8 index cases of AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases in the elderly has been rising increasingly. The sex and drugs related to it, are still subjects full of myths and untruths that may cause permanent damage to the sexuality of the elderly. Since many sexual problems are directly linked to continuing use of some medications used by the elderly, due to various diseases that stage of life. Conclusion: The sexuality of the elderly is a matter that should be taken into consideration when comparing policies and campaigns.
