Resumo: This paper is mainly intended to answer the following question: what role did higher education play in determining the scale of street protests against the administration of president Dilma Rousseff and against cases of corruption in the federal administration that were held in Brazil from March, 2015 to March, 2016? We found a positive relationship between the percentage of higher education graduates in the population aged 25 or older and the demonstration rate per 1,000 population.
