Resumo: The increase in longevity and the social changes experienced in recent decades have brought the challenge of living together between generations and changing the social roles of the elderly in the family context. In this sense, socio-educational interventions constitute a fruitful space for the reflection of attitudes about aging among adolescents and children. The figure of the wise or fragile and dependent elder takes on more fluid roles, linked to social participation, updating and development of new roles. They create spaces for education and learning between the generations, providing more positive attitudes about old age. The general objective of this study was to investigate the influence of an intergenerational environmental education intervention on attitudes about old age in adolescent students of a public school in the Federal District. The specific objectives were: 1) To investigate possible associations between attitudes towards old age, age and social class of adolescents, coexistence with grandparents and contribution of grandparents in raising; 2) To investigate attitudinal changes among groups of adolescents who participated in an intergenerational environmental intervention with groups of adolescents who participated in an intervention with the elderly. Eighty adolescents were investigated, located in two age groups: 10 to 11 years (n = 30) and 14 to 15 years (n = 50). In each age group the participants were subdivided into Experimental Group (GE), which participated in three workshops on the History of Brasilia, Environment and Environmental Preservation Practices with elderly people multiplied by environmental education and Control Groups (CG), with access to them. contents, but linked to the school curriculum. The results indicated that there was no association between social class, cohabitation with the elderly and attitudes about old age. However, younger adolescents had more positive attitudes toward old age than older ones, and there was an association between higher frequency of contact with grandparents and more positive attitudes in the Persona domain among 14- to 15-year-olds. It was observed that the intervention favored more positive attitudes in the cognition domains in EG of younger and older adolescents and in the agency domain among older adolescents. Comparisons between EG and CG suggest that the intervention elicited more effective changes in the cognition domain among older adolescents. In summary, the findings suggest that intergenerational interventions involving older people and adolescents are promising and deserve investment, with implications for education for the aging process and for solidarity and coexistence between generations.

No. of bitstreams: 1 JussaraSoaresMarquesdosAnjosDissertacao2019.pdf: 1439805 bytes, checksum: d141a2d466042f2efc2c70db6335b9d0 (MD5)Approved for entry into archive by Sara Ribeiro (sara.ribeiro@ucb.br) on 2020-03-31T22:19:12Z (GMT) No. of bitstreams: 1 JussaraSoaresMarquesdosAnjosDissertacao2019.pdf: 1439805 bytes, checksum: d141a2d466042f2efc2c70db6335b9d0 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2020-03-31T22:19:12Z (GMT).
