Internationalization of higher education in emerging contexts: recent production in theses and dissertations in Brazil : production récente de thèses et mémoires au Brésil

Resumo: The aim of the current study is to profile the themes of scientific works concerning the globalization of higher education in developing contexts. The quantitative information panel of the theses and dissertations catalog on the Portal of the Coordination for the Improvement of Brazilian Higher Education Personnel served as the venue for this systematic review of the literature, which was conducted through the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations. The adjectives “internationalization of higher education”, “developing contexts”, and “global south” were used in the search to uncover a total of 135 publications, which were broken down into 47 theses and 88 dissertations published throughout the period of 2017-2022 for the education sector. From the total number of works found, eight theses and three dissertations that dealt exclusively with the topic under study were chosen for this research. Four major themes that are pertinent to these works − public policies, interculturality and multiculturalism, socioeconomic concerns, and quality assessment − have been identified as a result of the analysis. All of these topics were covered in the internationalization conversations that centered on south-south cooperation and sought to construct the topic as a whole from a decolonial epistemological standpoint. Finally, the findings of this study revealed fresh avenues and plans for the global south's higher education that are oriented on intercultural considerations, invest in the generation of local knowledge, and conduct research and studies to address the problems of Brazilian reality.

El panel de informaciones cuantitativas del catálogo de tesis y disertaciones en el Portal de Revistas de la Coordinación de Perfeccionamiento del Personal de Educación Superior Brasileño sirvió de local para esta revisión sistemática de la literatura, que fue realizada a través de la Biblioteca Digital Brasileña de Tesis y Disertaciones. Los adjetivos “internacionalización de la educación superior”, “contextos en desarrollo” y “sur global” se utilizaron en la búsqueda para descubrir un total de 135 publicaciones, que se desglosaron en 47 tesis y 88 disertaciones publicadas durante el período 2017-2022 para el sector educativo. Del total de trabajos encontrados, se eligieron para esta investigación ocho tesis y tres disertaciones que trataban exclusivamente del tema en estudio. Cuatro grandes temas que son pertinentes a estos trabajos − políticas públicas, interculturalidad y multiculturalidad, preocupaciones socioeconómicas y evaluación de la calidad − han sido identificados como resultado del análisis. Todos estos temas fueron tratados en las conversaciones de internacionalización que se centraron en la cooperación sur-sur y buscaron construir el tema en su conjunto desde una perspectiva epistemológica decolonial. Por fin, los hallazgos de este estudio revelaron nuevos caminos y planes para la educación superior del sur global, centrados en dimensiones interculturales, con inversión en la generación de conocimiento local, por medio de investigaciones y estudios para abordar los problemas de la realidad brasileña.L'objectif de la présente étude est de profiler les thèmes des travaux scientifiques concernant la mondialisation de l'enseignement supérieur dans les contextes en développement. Le panneau d'information quantitative du catalogue des thèses et mémoires sur le portail des revues de la Coordination pour l'amélioration du personnel de l'enseignement supérieur brésilien a servi de lieu à cette revue systématique de la littérature, qui a été réalisée par le biais de la Bibliothèque numérique brésilienne des thèses et mémoires. Les adjectifs "internationalisation de l'enseignement supérieur", "contextes en développement" et "sud global" ont été utilisés dans la recherche pour découvrir un total de 160 publications, qui ont été réparties en 47 thèses et 88 mémoires publiés tout au long de la période 2017-2022. Du nombre total de travaux trouvés, 8 thèses et 3 mémoires portant exclusivement sur le sujet à l'étude ont été retenus pour cette recherche. Quatre grands thèmes pertinents pour ces travaux - les politiques publiques, l'interculturalité et le multiculturalisme, préoccupations socio-économiques et évaluation de la qualité - ont été identifiés à la suite de l'analyse. Tous ces sujets ont été couverts dans les conversations sur l'internationalisation centrées sur la coopération sud-sud et ont cherché à construire le sujet dans son ensemble d'un point de vue épistémologique décolonial. , les résultats de cette étude ont révélé de nouvelles avenues et de nouveaux plans pour l'enseignement supérieur du sud global qui sont orientés sur des considérations interculturelles, investissent dans la génération de connaissances locales et mènent des recherches et des études pour résoudre les problèmes de la réalité brésilienne.O presente estudo visa analisar o perfil das temáticas das produções científicas relacionadas à internacionalização da educação superior em contextos emergentes. Trata-se, portanto, de uma revisão sistemática da literatura, que ocorreu por meio da Biblioteca Digital Brasileira de Teses e Dissertações no painel de informações quantitativas do catálogo de teses e dissertações no Portal de Periódicos da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior. O mapeamento da produção científica possibilitou identificar o total de 135 trabalhos, divididos em 47 teses e 88 dissertações publicadas durante o período de 2017-2022, utilizando, para a busca, os descritores “internacionalização da educação superior”, “contextos emergentes” e “sul global” para área da Educação. Do montante total de trabalhos identificados, foram selecionadas para esta pesquisa oito teses e três dissertações, que tratavam especificamente da temática em estudo. A análise permitiu identificar quatro principais temáticas, relacionadas a estes trabalhos, sendo elas: políticas públicas; interculturalidade e multiculturalidade; questões socioeconômicas; e avaliação da qualidade. Todos estes aspectos integraram as discussões de internacionalização voltadas para a cooperação sul-sul, visando à formação integral do sujeito, com perspectivas epistemológicas decoloniais.
