Resumo: In the last decades, Brazil has followed an increase in the debate on the relevance of family farming, mainly concerning its importance as a transformation agent of the rural and for regional development. Thus, education, understood as a transforming agent, gains a fundamental role. In this sense, this work aimed to understand the perception of family farmers in the municipality of Vitorino, Paraná, about education in rural areas and its importance as a strategic element for the maintenance of young people in the countryside. For this, interviews were conducted with twenty family farmers in the municipality. From the interviews, it was possible to understand that although most rural schools in the municipality were closed, rural children and youth have access to education, but in urban schools. However, the urban curriculum, for the most part, does not value the rural way of life, which ends up contributing to the exodus of rural youth. In this sense, it is important to create educational strategies and public policies to strengthen the succession and permanence of young people in the countryside, ensuring the social reproduction of family farming.

Así, la educación, entendida como un agente transformador, adquiere un papel fundamental. En este sentido, este trabajo tuvo como objetivo comprender la percepción de los agricultores familiares en el municipio de Vitorino, Paraná, sobre la educación en las zonas rurales y su importancia como elemento estratégico para el mantenimiento de los jóvenes en el campo. Para ello, se realizaron entrevistas con veinte agricultores familiares en el municipio. A partir de las entrevistas, fue posible entender que, aunque la mayoría de las escuelas rurales del municipio estaban cerradas, los niños y jóvenes rurales tienen acceso a la educación, pero en las escuelas urbanas. Sin embargo, el plan de estudios urbano, en su mayor parte, no valora la forma de vida rural, que termina contribuyendo al éxodo de la juventud rural. En este sentido, es importante crear estrategias educativas y políticas públicas para fortalecer la sucesión y permanencia de los jóvenes en el campo, asegurando la reproducción social de la agricultura familiar.Nas últimas décadas, o Brasil acompanhou um aumento no debate sobre a relevância da agricultura familiar, principalmente no que se refere a sua importância como agente de transformação do rural e para o desenvolvimento regional. Assim, a educação, entendida como agente transformador, ganha papel fundamental. Nesse sentido, este trabalho teve como objetivo compreender a percepção dos agricultores familiares do município de Vitorino, Paraná, sobre a educação rural e a sua importância como elemento estratégico para a manutenção dos jovens no campo. Para isso, foram realizadas entrevistas com vinte agricultores familiares do município. A partir das entrevistas, foi possível compreender que, apesar de a maioria das escolas rurais do município terem sido fechadas, as crianças e os jovens rurais têm acesso à educação, mas em escolas urbanas. Entretanto, o currículo urbano, em sua maioria, não valoriza o modo de vida rural, o que acaba contribuindo para o êxodo dos jovens rurais.
