ASSISTÊNCIA AO RECÉM-NASCIDO PREMATURO: PERCEPÇÃO DA FAMÍLIA E DOS PROFISSIONAIS DE SAÚDE

Premature birth and its complications are the leading causes of neonatal deaths and other diseases (cerebral palsy, cognitive disabilities, hearing and learning). To prevent and reduce the severity of comorbidities, the Ministry of Health of Brazil adopts the Public Policy Humane Care Standard of the Newborn Low Birth Weight (Canguru- Method MC). The method is carried out in three stages, with the first two focus on the hospital and the third step is the followup. The overall objective of this study was to understand how is the premature care newborn, as recommended by the public health policy, Canguru- Method MC, from the perception of the family and health professionals. This is a qualitative nature study. Were interviewed eighteen health professionals and six families. The interview with local professionals was the City Health Department, the Intermunicipal Consortium of Health and the Hospital Santa Casa de Irati / PR. The families were interviewed in the latter category. The interviews were closed from the saturation of answers. The data analysis was from the content analysis, thematic modality. The following core themes emerged from the interviews with professionals: Mismatch in communication between health services and families; The fragmentation of care of premature and families; Contradictions between the professionals and the established public policy practices. As for the families, the central themes were: the hospital-centered care Valuation; Assistance focused on physical indicators of early development. The speeches remind us of a surface communication and guided by medical techniques as necessary to the mother and baby. The family and the baby receive fragmented care focuses on disease, not fully as recommended by the policy. There was concise reports of political, we observed that the professionals do what it calls, and value the care and hospital care. As a result, there are contradictions between the professional practices and what is established in the policy. The training of health professionals did not follow the paradigm shift in care, and is spaced from the form of a comprehensive care. What we see is a lack of training for the transformations imposed in practice. The appreciation of hospital care was marked in the speeches of families. The baby receives basic assistance, weighing and vaccinations and medical care. There compliance with public policy and the existence of a service and professionals to ensure joint and efficient actions in the care of the baby and the family.
