This research intends to identify, from the reading of the Bulletin of the Parana‟s Historic and Geographic Institute (IHGP), published between the years of 1918-1925, which were the foundations and themes that endorsed the writing of Paraná‟s history on the early 20th century. This study seeks to perceive the kind of historiography that the institute‟s intellectuals had produced and divulged on this periodic. In this way, the IHGP is analyzed as a space of historical production and knowledge divulgation as, for instance, those which configured Paraná as a modern region and as a civilization standard. The crucial point of this work seeks: to understand the production conditions and the elements that characterized the writing of history on the state, as well as understand in which measure its proposals were united with the other national institutions, as the very Brazilian Historic and Geographic Institute. Being said so, it also seeks to understand how the bulletin had presented itself as a profitable space for the divulging of relevant material about Paraná‟s and Brazil‟s history. In order to do so, thinking about this periodic and the historiographic production performed by its intellectuals on that moment consists in understanding which historical narratives were produced and divulged by the Paraná‟s Historic and Geographical Institute, as well as it permits us to inquire the contribution, the reach and the pertinence of the writing of history‟s studies in the beginning of the 20th century.
