Resumo: This research analyzes the relationship between displacements and knowledge throughout history, with emphasis on the eighteenth century , in the phenomenon known as Grand Tour, specifically in the trip made by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe to Italy in 1786. It was aimed here to understand the knowledge acquired by Goethe throughout his journey through the European context of Lifelong Learning (LLL), distinguishing Educational processes and Learning processes, and its implications for the Goethean scientific thought and legacy, based on Goethe’s work, Italian Journey. In order to make this paper feasible, it was used the Historical Heuristic, Critical and Hermeneutic Method and the Goethean Phenomenology, patterned on the analysis of the studied work. In the end, it was found that Goethe was directly influenced by the carried out displacement, an informal learning process, and all his scientific, cultural and literary legacy share a common source, which in the author’s own words, was more important than al his years of formal education, that is, the journey.

Objetivou-se aqui compreender o conhecimento adquirido por Goethe ao longo da viagem através do contexto europeu de Aprendizado ao Longo da Vida (ALV), diferenciando processos educativos e processos de aprendizado e suas implicações para o pensamento e legado científico goetheanos, tendo por base a obra de Goethe, Viagem à Itália. Para tornar exequível este trabalho utilizou-se o método Histórico Heurístico, Crítico e Hermenêutico e a Fenomenologia goetheana, pautados na análise da obra estudada.
