The abandonment of dogs is an environmental crime, with this there is an increase in dogs on the streets, a problem observed in several Brazilian cities. A small portion of these animals are adopted, others receive care from the neighborhood of the neighborhood, they become community dogs and there are still those that are rescued by independent protectors to live in shelters. However, these animals are possible carriers of zoonotic pathogens that can be transmitted by vectors such as Anaplasma platys and Ehrlichia canis putting both human and animal health at risk. Rescue without adequate knowledge can lead to overcrowding, exposure to pathogens, stress, which leads to decreased immunity and thus compromising the five freedoms, harming the health and well-being of animals. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the animal health and occurrence of Anaplasma platys and Ehrlichia canis in non-domiciled dogs in the Center-South region of Paraná, Brazil. A total of 297 dogs were selected regardless of age, sex and breed, in which clinical examination and blood collection were performed for hemogram and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). We observed that more than 72.4% of the animals showed changes in the blood count, that is, their health was affected. There was amplification of A. platys DNA in 1% (3/297) and E. canis 0.3% (1/297), resulting in low positivity in non-domiciled dogs, but epidemiological monitoring is of paramount importance, despite the low occurrence.
