Companies increasingly to become, or remain, competitive in the market. One of the aspects that do competitiveness is the development and / or implementation of innovations. However, there are few companies today that have the skills and resources needed to develop / implement innovations. Thus, many have sought to collaborate with other organizations in order to face this challenge. Among the organizations with which companies to collaborate are higher education institutions (universities). These have in your collaborators individuals with skills and abilities necessary to develop / implement innovations. This practice already exists in Brazilian universities, in some cases linked to research projects. However, it is still unclear how much of the research developed in the academic reaches the business world or, more specifically, the degree of tangibility of these surveys. So arises the following research question: What is the degree of tangibility of research conducted by the University, from the continuity model of R & D (R & D Continuum)? From this inquiry establishes the main objective of the study is to identify the degree of tangibility of research developed at the State University of the Midwest - UNICENTRO in the period 2010-2015 from the continuity model of R & D (R & D Continuum). This is a descriptive, quantitative research, with data collection through a questionnaire containing 20 questions related directly to the goal, made available electronically to all researchers UNICENTRO. The sample, not probabilistic for membership was composed of 68 fully completed questionnaires. In analyzing the data were initially presented the characteristics of the sample and the descriptive statistics of issues related to the purpose of the study, divided into four blocks (basic research, applied research, development, technical service). As a highlight, it is clear that the averages for applied research and development are higher than the average of basic research, giving evidence that seeking a result that has utility (obligatory) by the market and / or society. The next step in the analysis is to define a metric to measure the degree of tangibility of the results of research projects. Therefore, it was decided to assign a note to each project in each block, from the quartiles where is located each project according to the average of the block variables. Thus, the notes seen from 0 (little propensity to construct) to 3 (high propensity to construct). From this metric, through the graphical representation, it is noticed a good number of sample surveys have a high degree of tangibility (Notes 3 in the search block applied and / or development block and / or technical service pack). But, as expected of a university, there is also a considerable number of basic research. As theoretical contribution, this study deeper analysis with regard to the results generated by academic research, and specifically, with regard to leverage these results. In practical terms, the proposal of a metric to measure the tangibility is a significant contribution, both to be presented to the University that demand for a solution in this regard.
