The work of the Social Assistant in INSS: contributions to the health of the worker from the professional rehabilitation

Resumo: This article analyzes the Work of the Social Worker at the National Social Security Institute (INSS) and its contribution to guaranteeing the right to Workers' Health, based on Professional Rehabilitation. The study is qualitative in nature with an exploratory character. The investigation took place in three Executive Offices of the INSS, in the south of the country, with Social Assistants who work in the Social Security Social Security Service. As a result, important challenges were found for professional work in the field of Worker's Health and the recognition of its work object. Its role in the intrainstitutional and intersectoral articulation and in the mechanisms of legitimization of Social Service in this area is evident. It is concluded that there is an important professional contribution to Occupational Health and Social Protection, from the Professional Rehabilitation even in the face of the historical challenges of this service.

O estudo é de natureza qualitativa com caráter exploratório. A investigação ocorreu em três Gerências Executivas do INSS, do sul do país, com Assistentes Sociais que atuam no Serviço Previdenciário de Serviço Social. Como resultado se encontrou desafios importantes para o trabalho profissional no âmbito da Saúde do Trabalhador e no reconhecimento do seu objeto de trabalho. Fica evidente seu papel na articulação intrainstitucional e intersetorial e nos mecanismos de legitimação do Serviço Social nessa área.
