Labor conditions of social workers and its impact on services

This article, part of a Master's Dissertation, aims to analyze the labor conditions of social workers of BSP of the Unified Social Assistance System. We sought to assess, through an exploratory research, guided by the critical-dialectic materialist perspective and carried out in the first half of 2018 in seven municipalities in the Recôncavo Identity Territory/BA, the impact of working conditions on the quality of services provided to users. A semi-structured interview with seven social workers from the selected municipalities was used as the data collection technique. The results indicate that the professionals' daily work is affected by precariousness, such as low wages, fragile employment relationships and poor conditions of the equipment. It is concluded that the precariousness of work causes negative impact on the services provided to users, such as attendance slowness; carrying out occasional visits, to the detriment of follow-up actions; and discontinuity of actions.
