Resumo: This qualitative essay is based on a proposal of intervention on gender issues, carried out through a service that makes up the Unified System of Social Assistance, located in a city in the interior of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The objective was to relate the Psychology practices in this public service with the demands that emerge in the territory, which are signaled by the users themselves as needs that can be worked on by this social assistance service. A focal group was carried out with referential families, having as a theme of intervention "the role of men in the family". This theme was pointed out by the participants themselves as a demand for intervention by Psychology. From the clues obtained in the field, it was identified that, many times, the man is socially related to the figure of provider/worker and dedicates little to family/domestic issues. In this sense, family/domestic responsibilities are assigned to the woman. Gender issues were put in check by the group, from a collective reflection on some attributions related to men and women, understood as gender issues.

El objetivo era relacionar las prácticas de la Psicología en este servicio público con las demandas que surgen en el territorio, que son señaladas por las/los propias/os usuárias/os como necesidades que pueden ser trabajadas por ese servicio de asistencia social. Se realizó un grupo focal con familias referenciadas, teniendo como tema de intervención "el papel del hombre en la familia". Este tema fue señalado por las/los propias/os participantes como una demanda de intervención de la Psicología. A partir de las pistas obtenidas en el campo, se identificó que, muchas veces, el hombre se relaciona socialmente con la figura de proveedor/trabajador y se dedica poco a las cuestiones familiares/domésticas. En este sentido, las responsabilidades familiares/domésticas se atribuyen a la mujer. Las cuestiones de género fueron puestas en jaque por el grupo, a partir de una reflexión colectiva sobre algunas atribuciones relacionadas con hombres y mujeres, entendidas como cuestiones de género.Este ensaio qualitativo parte de uma proposta de intervenção sobre questões de gênero, realizado através de um serviço que compõe o Sistema Único de Assistência Social, localizado em uma cidade no interior do RS. O objetivo foi relacionar as práticas da Psicologia nesse serviço público com as demandas que emergem no território, que são sinalizadas pelas/os próprias/os usuárias/os enquanto necessidades que podem ser trabalhadas pelo referido serviço socioassistencial. Realizou-se grupo focal com famílias referenciadas, tendo como temática de intervenção “o papel do homem na família”. Tal tema foi apontado pelos próprios sujeitos participantes enquanto demanda para intervenção da Psicologia. A partir das pistas obtidas em campo, identificou-se que, muitas vezes, o homem é socialmente relacionado à figura de provedor/trabalhador e dedica-se pouco às questões familiares/domésticas. Neste sentido, as responsabilidades familiares/domésticas são atribuídas à mulher.
