Chemistry undergraduates' understanding of the STS approach and Critical Thinking: the role of an initial training course

Resumo: This work aims to investigate the understanding of undergraduate students of a Supervised Internship in Chemistry about the approach with a STS/CT approach, implemented by an initial training program aimed at teaching STS/PC to students for their planning and didactic interventions. To this end, portfolios produced by 12 undergraduates enrolled in a Supervised Internship II course in the 2019 school year were analyzed. The data were analyzed using the WebQDA Software, using content analysis, with three categories appearing as emerging: Understanding of STS; Understanding of STS/CT; and Learning and development of the STS approach. The results show that undergraduates understand the importance of such approaches and the course for their training, but they often end up presenting simplistic ideas about them, which intensifies the importance of training courses that promote the understanding of STS/CT approaches.

Para ello, se analizaron los portafolios producidos por 12 estudiantes de pregrado matriculados en un curso de Pasantía Supervisada II en el año escolar 2019. Los datos fueron analizados utilizando el Software WebQDA, utilizando análisis de contenido, apareciendo tres categorías como emergentes: Comprensión de CTS; Comprensión de CTS/PC; y Aprendizaje y desarrollo del enfoque CTS. Los resultados muestran que los estudiantes de grado comprenden la importancia de tales enfoques y del curso para su formación, pero muchas veces terminan presentando ideas simplistas sobre ellos, lo que intensifica la importancia de cursos de formación que promuevan la comprensión de los enfoques STS/PC.Este trabalho tem como objetivo investigar a compreensão de licenciandos de uma disciplina de Estágio Supervisionado em Química acerca da abordagem com enfoque CTS/PC, implementada por um programa de formação inicial voltado ao ensino CTS/PC aos estudantes, para seus planejamentos e intervenções didáticas. Para tanto, foi realizada a análise de portfólios produzidos por 12 licenciandos matriculados em uma disciplina de Estágio Supervisionado II no ano letivo de 2019. Os dados foram analisados por meio do Software WebQDA, sendo utilizada a análise de conteúdo, aparecendo como emergentes três categorias: Compreensão de CTS; Compreensão de CTS/PC; e Aprendizagem e desenvolvimento da abordagem CTS.
