Resumo: This study discusses an internship proposal developed from a Biological Sciences degree program. The actions herein are short-term courses, with students attending the final years of the local grade school in the city of Jequié, Bahia, Brazil, as participants. The degree holders have developed their work in five weeks and been committed to a proposal based on the production of knowledge as well as their continuous involvement in a range of activities. The materials evaluated were: undergraduates' statements, internship report and a summarized form focused on results. Amongst the learning features developed in the internship, the following are highlighted: deeper analysis on the Brazilian educational situation, handling of usual insecurities in the early stages of the teaching career; educational planning elaboration and re-elaboration; application of diversified methodological strategies; attested experiences for future educational practices; recognition of the importance of the community and contextualization to the educational process; achievement of positive results regarding student learning; understanding of the relationship between teaching / research and a better approach on the predicaments involving teaching practices. In short, this paper emphasizes the relevance of searching for new internship configurations, without ignoring the existing ones, in order to promote further training opportunities in spite of the common disappointments which take place throughout the teaching career.
