Resumo: The present article results of a research developed in the discipline of Differential and Integral Calculus for functions of a variable in a Chemistry Degree course. Changes in the pedagogical practices of the mathematics teacher who works in the discipline of Differential and Integral Calculus, integrating it better with Chemistry and the aspirations of the students of the course are the object of this study. An interdisciplinary teaching material in Differential and Integral Calculus and Chemistry was prepared, and this, together with the Problem-Based Approach (PBL), guaranteed the offer of a Differential and Integral Calculus course for functions of a differentiated variable. Considering the proposal, the objective of this study was to evaluate its relevance to the Chemistry Degree course. From a case study using the questionnaire and interview research techniques, with the students who participated in the discipline, quantitative and qualitative analysis of the collected data were performed. It was concluded that the application of mathematical concepts to Chemistry, still in the first year of the course, contributes to minimize the retention in the discipline and encourages the study of Mathematics, being still necessary other actions to minimize the evasion of the students.
