Environmental Education: a study on environmentalization in Fundamental Education

Resumo: This article presents and discusses the results obtained in a research stage on the investigation of curricular environmentalization in the Elementary School of the municipal schools of Santo André-SP. The objective was to know the process of curricular environmentalization (educating for socio-environmental sustainability), in the Political-Pedagogical Projects (PPP's) of the schools and to analyze the guidelines proposed by the schools related to the environmental theme. The methodological approach was characterized by a qualitative approach and the use of document analysis and content analysis techniques. For the analysis of curricular environmental processes in educational institutions, the 10 characteristics of the ACES Network were used as reference. The data indicated that the environmental theme is inserted in the PPPs of the schools, in the category "potential of ambientization" in a simple way, without detail being considered only of general way or with aspect simply ecological. Thus, it is urgent to include the inclusion of Critical Environmental Education in educational institutions in an interdisciplinary way, with a continuous and permanent approach, aiming at the effective solution of socio- environmental problems. The results will be used to generate subsidies for the institutional politics of curricular environmentalization in the official PPP documents of the municipal schools of Santo André.

Objetivou-se conhecer o processo de ambientalização curricular (educar para a sustentabilidade socioambiental), nos Projetos Político-Pedagógicos (PPP’s) das escolas e analisar as diretrizes propostas pelas escolas relacionadas a temática ambiental. A abordagem metodológica caracterizou-se pelo enfoque qualitativo e a utilização de técnicas de análise documental e de análise de conteúdo. Para análise dos processos de ambientalização curricular nas instituições de ensino, utilizou-se como referência as 10 características da Rede ACES. Os dados indicaram que a temática ambiental está inserida nos PPP’s das escolas, na categoria “potencial de ambientalização” de maneira simples, sem detalhamento sendo considerada apenas de maneira geral ou com aspecto simplesmente ecológico. Assim, torna-se urgente a necessidade da inserção da educação ambiental crítica nas instituições de ensino de maneira interdisciplinar, com enfoque contínuo e permanente, visando à efetiva solução de problemas socioambientais.
