The influence of cartoons and television programming on Science classes in a Basic Education classroom

Resumo: This article has the purpose of presenting reflections about an experience realized in 2017, within the scope of our research of masters in the Program of Postgraduate Education and Teaching of Sciences in the Amazon, belonging to the University of the State of Amazonas, in which together students of the initial years of elementary school education sought to identify the preference of children for certain television animation, with the purpose of verifying which designs have exerted more influence in children regarding their contact with science in daily life. The study was based on a qualitative approach, through participant observation and conversation wheels for data collection, the animation was exhibited by the free choice of the class, without interference of the researchers. We try to analyze not only the children's choices around the animations, but also the interest or not in the science-themed cartoons, as well as discussing the use of science in TV cartoons for children. As significant results, we observed that television programs and cartoons have a strong affective appeal to children's lives and are important in the formation of the current child culture.

As significant results, we observed that television programs and cartoons have a strong affective appeal to children's lives and are important in the formation of the current child culture.Este artigo tem a finalidade de apresentar reflexões sobre uma experiência realizada em 2017, no âmbito de nossa pesquisa de mestrado no Programa de Pós-graduação Educação e Ensino de Ciências na Amazônia, pertencente a Universidade do Estado do Amazonas, em que junto a estudantes dos anos iniciais do Ensino Fundamental buscou-se identificar a preferência das crianças por determinada animação televisiva, com o objetivo de verificar quais os desenhos que tem exercido mais influência nas crianças a respeito do seu contato com a ciência no  cotidiano.  O estudo ocorreu a partir de abordagem qualitativa, mediante observação participante e rodas de conversa para coleta de dados, a animação foi exibida por livre escolha da turma, sem interferência dos pesquisadores. Procuramos analisar não só as escolhas das crianças em torno das animações, bem como o interesse, ou não, pelos desenhos com temáticas da ciência, além de discutir a veiculação da ciência nos desenhos animados da TV para o público infantil.
