Didactic sequence using a digital identification key in a remote discipline of undergraduate Medical Entomology

Resumo: | The Covid-19 pandemic presented several challenges for Higher Education in Biosciences, especially in practical activities. While some professors preferred to postpone their practical classes, others sought alternatives to deal with the limitations of the moment. This work presents a didactic sequence for a remote discipline of Medical Entomology in the undergraduation. This sequence uses of BioTax and Google Drive. It addresses Muscomorpha taxa, Forensic Entomology and ectoparasites in ten activities; being three of taxonomic identification of specimens and one of creation of a digital identification key. This sequence was applied in two classes of the second semester of 2020 at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. The 38 students who had access to a computer performed all the proposed activities. Most were successful, but some errors were identified. Thus, the proposed didactic sequence is an interesting resource to overcome some challenges of remote teaching in Biosciences. |

Mientras algunos docentes preferían posponer sus clases prácticas, otros buscaban alternativas para hacer frente a las limitaciones del momento. Este trabajo presenta una secuencia didáctica para una disciplina remota de Entomología Médica en la graduación. Esta secuencia hace uso de BioTax y Google Drive. Aborda taxones de Muscomorpha, Entomología Forense y ectoparásitos en diez actividades; siendo tres de identificación taxonómica de ejemplares y uno de creación de clave de identificación digital. Esta secuencia fue aplicada en dos clases del segundo semestre de 2020 en la Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte. Los 38 estudiantes que tenían acceso a una computadora realizaron todas las actividades propuestas. La mayoría tuvo éxito, pero se identificaron algunos errores. Así, la secuencia didáctica propuesta se presentó como un recurso interesante para superar algunos desafíos de la enseñanza remota en Biociencias.A pandemia de Covid-19 apresentou vários desafios para o Ensino Superior em Biociências, especialmente nas atividades práticas. Enquanto alguns docentes preferiram adiar suas aulas práticas, outros buscaram alternativas para lidar com as limitações do momento. Este trabalho apresenta uma sequência didática para uma disciplina remota de Entomologia Médica na graduação. Esta sequência faz uso do BioTax e do Google Drive. Ela aborda táxons de Muscomorpha, Entomologia Forense e ectoparasitos em dez atividades; sendo três de identificação taxonômica de exemplares e uma de criação de chave de identificação digital. A sequência foi aplicada em duas turmas do segundo semestre de 2020 da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte. Os 38 alunos que tinham acesso a computador realizaram todas as atividades propostas. A maioria obteve sucesso, mas alguns erros foram identificados.
