Conceptions of professionalism in the consolidation phase of the teaching career in Mathematics

Resumo: The article presents the results of a research that had as main objective to analyze the conceptions that the Mathematics teacher, inserted in the range of four to ten years of career, has about his professionality. The qualitative investigation was developed with four Mathematics teachers who teach in Basic Education and who were in the professional period established for the study. The data obtained were collected from semi-structured interviews carried out, individually, with the participants, after the characterization of the group made with the application of a questionnaire. In the data analysis, we selected the lines that suggested possible understandings about the theme and its most significant aspects, which served to delineate three main axes for discussion. The conceptions of the participating teachers indicate stability in the profession. They find themselves more confident and secure in their pedagogical actions. Thinking about the students, they try to make an interesting, attractive and motivating class, even with the awareness that there are difficulties, either in the teaching-learning process, or in the representation and valuation of teachers, mainly citing the low salary as a preponderant factor.

La investigacíon de la naturaliza cualitativa fue desarrollada con cuatro profesores de matemáticas que enseñan en educacíon básica y que se encontraban em el período de prefesión establecido para el estúdio. Los datos de búsqueda fueron recolectados a partir de entrevistas semiestructuradas realizadas, de manera individual, con los participantes, luego de la caracterización del grupo realizada con la aplicación de un cuestionario. Em la analise de los datos seleccionamos los discursos que sugirieron posibles entendimientos sobre la temática y sus aspectos más significativos que sirvió para delinear tres ejes principales para la discusión. Las concepciones de los profesores participantes indican una estabilidad en la profesión. Ellos se sienten más confiados y seguros en sus acciones pedagógicas. Pensando en los estudiantes, buscan realizar una clase interesante atractiva y motivadora, aunque son conscientes de que existen dificultades, ya sea en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, o en la representación y valoración de los profesores, citando principalmente el bajo sueldo como factor preponderante.O artigo apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa que teve como principal objetivo analisar as concepções que o professor de Matemática, inserido na faixa dos quatro aos dez anos de carreira, tem sobre sua profissionalidade. A investigação de natureza qualitativa foi desenvolvida com quatro professores de Matemática que lecionam na Educação Básica e que se encontravam no período de profissão estabelecido para o estudo. Os dados obtidos foram coletados a partir de entrevistas semiestruturadas realizadas, individualmente, com os participantes, após a caracterização do grupo feita com a aplicação de um questionário. Na análise dos dados, selecionamos as falas que sugeriram possíveis entendimentos sobre a temática e os seus aspectos significativos, que serviram para delinear três eixos principais para a discussão. As concepções dos professores participantes indicam uma estabilidade na profissão. Eles se encontram mais confiantes e seguros de suas ações pedagógicas.
